Boulder 2019 Scholarship Story:
Boulder 200 Hour YTT 2019
I was a proud and grateful recipient of the Bodhi Yoga Academy Yoga Teacher's Training 200hr scholarship. Coming from a third world country with an extremely low currency exchange rate, the original price for the training was simply not in my budget. The cost for the training was actually more than what some people in my country make in a year! However, I've always desired to do my YTT and when I saw Irene advertising the training, I decided to check it out. I've checked out several other YTT before but their prices was extraordinarily high and simply not affordable and could not justify spending that much. When I applied for the training, I was teaching yoga already, uncertified, as my country has extremely limited yoga classes (maybe 2 in the country). I was completely self taught and spent a lot of time focusing on form and technique, rather than advanced poses. My average income from yoga was approximately $300USD. I had school and living expenses. But I saw the desire in my students to learn yoga, so I asked Irene about a scholarship/price reduction and to my surprise she said there was scholarships available, so I could offer better quality classes. If it were not for the scholarship, I would not have been able to, realistically, do the training. So thank you BYA for your generosity! Because of it, I am able to earn more money teaching yoga, and as such could donate to your GoFundMe charity on a regular basis. :)
